Caring for your leather product

  • Leather is a natural material, for this reason leather goods can last for decades when cared for properly. It’s beautiful and durable at the same time.
  • Keep your hands clean when using your leather bag. Leather naturally absorbs oil and other substances that touch it. The oil from your skin can darken the leather over time and attracts dirt leading to stain spots.
  • Please isolate make-up, pens and sharp objects in your bag by using additional zipped pouches to ensure damage and or staining is avoided.
  • Avoid using deodorant, perfume or hair care spray products in the vicinity of your leather product. These have the potential to damage leather surfaces.
  • Do not overfill leather bags and wallets. Overfilling can permanently alter the shape of your leather piece. Additionally, avoid carrying heavy objects as it could eventually lead to stretching or tearing of the leather. Always follow the weight guide given for each product.
  • It’s important to keep your leather piece dry. If you accidentally splash water or get caught in the rain with you leather piece, pat it dry with a towel and allow it to air dry on its own. Do not use a hair dryer or tumble dryer.

Cleaning and Storing

When you will need to clean your leather products depends on how often and in what way you use it. If you use the product on a daily basis, then you should clean it every three months. If it’s only used for weekends or special occasions every six to nine months will likely be enough to keep your piece clean and protected.

  • Cleaning and conditioning
    • Always use a cleaning product that is specifically designed for leather. Rub the leather cleaner into the product surface in a circular motion and allow it to sit for a few minutes, then, carefully wipe it off with a clean, damp cloth.
    • Like our skin, over time leather can dry out and crack. Moisturising your leather piece can help prevent this. As mentioned above, ensure any lotion used is designed for leather goods.
  • Store your leather product in a dark place with stuffing inside to help keep its shape. It should be placed inside a dust bag and please ensure that your leather product is completely dry to prevent it from moulding.
